  3. Joe L said, I was in a CVS Drugstore the other day waiting for a prescription of mine to be refilled when a young lady brought a prescription to be filled for her very young sick child to be filled. The pharmacist told her it would be $48.00 for the medicine and she said she did not have that much money but she would go home and see if she could find some more money at home. Her child was wheezing and coughing very badly. This young lady didn't look like she had much money based on her appearance. I knew her child needed the medication and I felt pretty sure she didn't have the money to get the prescription filled so I offered to pay for it myself. She looked at me and she teared up and bowed her head and said thank you. I am retired and don't have much money myself but I felt convicted by my belief that the Lord says "to help those in need as I have helped you". As I did that I felt such a peace about me and I thought about your precious daughter Ashley and her giving ways. If only we could have more like her in the world we would not have the hardened kind of world we live in today. I feel your sorrow as I too lost a loved one who was, as your daughter Ashley, a kind and generous person couple years ago. The pain continues but we live on knowing the world is a better place because they were in it. I will keep you and Ashley in my prayers and in hope of your healing to better cope with your loss. My love for you and your family.

  5. Lynne Kelly Anderson said, There are so many homeless people where I now live. I've tried to make a habit of carrying small bills when I go out. If I can buy a sandwich for someone, I will. If not, I'll give them money and pray for the best. The one thing I know for sure is that I have more than they do, and so I'll give.

  7. Jessica McCloud Grant said, I volunteered to feed the homeless at the Feed the Hungry Event in Reno. Although I never met Ashley I feel like I knew her through my friendship with her beautiful Mom. Feeding the homeless is a small thing I can do to keep Ashley's memory alive.

  8. Gerald Romero said, It super bowl Sunday I had stop to put gas in my car when I noticed and older woman asking the attendant about brake fluid. I happened to be standing a few feet away and pointed it out to her. She then asked the attendant if he knew where to put the brake fluid in. His reply was I don't even own a car. I ask the lady if she needed some help. She said, "oh could you please" and my reply was of course. Apparently the brakes on the jeep she was driving had given out as she rolled into the gas station hitting the curb just to get the jeep to stop. I popped the hood and when I open the lid to the master cylinder it was completely empty. I proceeded to fill it up. We then test the brakes after pumping them she had brakes again. She was so happy that she offered to give me money. I said no thank you, I have a mother and a sister and I would hope that if they ever needed help that someone kind would help them. The lady said "God bless you" that alone was payment enough.

Brenda said, at my last job I usually parked about 3 miles away one day I had taken a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch, the company had provided lunch for us that day so at the end of the day as I was walking to my car I still had my peanut butter sandwich and happened to walk past a homeless man I turned around and called him back and offered the sandwich to him.. he looked at me amazed and said thank you so much and god bless you. Made me feel great..

  10. Enid Webb said, I feel most alive when I can help someone or make their day a little brighter. I do not ever expect anything in return. I was completely caught off guard and moved to tears when I was the recipient of a colleague's tremendous kindness and generosity today. For the last few months I have had some challenges where my oldest daughter is concerned. As her mom, I will go to any length to help her/support her. Bills are piling up, but I am just focused on doing everything in my power to help her. I had gone to this colleague for advice, as I respect his professional opinion, twice before and both times I was touched by his kindness and generosity of time. Today I went to talk to him to thank him for all of his invaluable support and as if he hadn't done enough already, he told me that he wants to pay for one of the bills I have incurred in the process of helping my daughter. He then said, in a very matter of fact way, that he believes in random acts of kindness and that he is able and wants to help me. I said thank you, told him how touched I was by his kindness and promised him that I would pay it forward. Excited about paying it forward. Feeling so grateful!

  14. NDL said, I didn't meet Ashley, but my daughter knows you Donna and knew both Ashley and Lindsay.
The act of kindness I did was help a brother/sister whose mother passed away this last January. I drove to Medford, OR and took the daughter to the deceased's home in S. California where she met her brother who drove from New York. I spent nine days cleaning and preparing the house to go on the market, and also took the daughter back to Medford as she did not have a vehicle. I had known this family for 63 years. First of all - I am so sorry to you Donna and Lindsey over this tragedy. My thoughts are often thinking of Lindsey. For both of you - I have no way of knowing how it feels to truly lose a child or sibling loved so very much. All I can say is go with the flow of emotions up and down, but always know tomorrow will bring more strength, one step at a time. I know Ashley will look over you.

  15. Kimberly Williams said, I know that this is to write about things I have done for other people, but I wanted to share what a Lyon County Sheriff did for me...
I pulled behind him in a "do it yourself" car wash. As I was waiting for him to be done I noticed he kept putting more money in the machine every minute or so. After he was done rinsing off his truck he put more money in the machine. I thought he was going to dry his truck. Instead he went to the driver side door, looked at me and waved. Then he got in his truck and left. I pulled forward and saw there was over 6 minutes for me to wash my truck.
His kindness brought me so much happiness!
Not all cops are the same. Which is a reason why in a month I will be applying at the Lyon County Sheriffs office. I want to show people that cops aren't out there to make peoples lives bad, they are supposed to be out there to help, protect and be good role models for others. Which is what I WILL do.
I think about my cousin everyday. Her and Lindsers are my inspiration<3

  18. As we enter this holiday season, let's try and do some small random acts of kindness. Fill old purses with hygiene items from the dollar store and give it to some ladies in need, tie some scarfs or jackets around some trees downtown with a note for the needy. Ashley was always so helpful when she saw the elderly trying to load their vehicles, please take a moment and help them. It is so cold, take their cart back for them. Happy Holidays, be safe and take a moment to tell your loved ones you love them! Donna Browder

  25. A few weeks ago I was in the drive-though at Wells Fargo bank. I noticed upon driving to the window that an elderly gentleman had fallen in the parking lot. I stopped and watched for a few seconds and realized that he was unable to get up and no one was helping him. I immediately put the car in park and ran to try and help him. Unfortunately, I could not lift hm to his feet. Instead, I gathered up all the items he dropped and helped him crawl to the curb. Finally, another gentleman came, but I felt many were ignoring the situation, What I did was not a random act of kindness but, anytime I can help someone in need. Kindness is always my #1 thought. I wish you peace and happiness. Cheryl V
